House Heraldry

Which House will you be cheering for? Raise your flags and wear your House colours with pride!

King Richard the Lionhearted

Plantagenet House is the royal house and house of King Richard the Lionheart. They are known as brave warriors with King Richard fighting in the crusades these past years.

Sir Reginald of Scully
Knight Marshall and Chancellor to the King

Scully House is a small barony just outside of Nottingham. Being a small land with lots of fields, they mainly deal in agriculture.

Prince John
Sir Albert
Lady Beatrice

Highmoor is the house of Prince John! As King Richard’s brother, Prince John sits on the throne in his absence and manages his affairs. We’ll let you guess how well that’s going. (Note, King John’s poor management skills eventually led to the Magna Carta and the formation of British Parliament).

Simon the Sheriff of Nottingham

Mulder House is the home of the Sheriff of Nottingham. They have a small piece of land along the river Thames and are famous for their fish liver ale!

Baron
Sir Robin of Locksley

Locksley house is the house of Sir Robin (also called Robin Hood). Sir Robin has left the noble life to live in the forest of Sherwood with his band of merry men. These outlaws are known for their vigilante justice – stealing from the rich and giving to the poor.

Maid Marion

Fitzwalter is the House of the lovely Maid Marion, cousin of King Richard the Lionheart

Duke Edward
Duchess Charlotte
Knight – Lady Winnifred

Norfolk is the House of Dames (aka female knights). Norfolk is one of the most powerful duchys. They have many connections (especially in France) leading to phenomenal international trade. This house originates from France.

Duke Charles
Duchess Elenor
Knight – Sir Thomas

Wessex House is famous for their peasant pheasant farmers. This land is full of forests and deer – great for hunting if you are the king.

Knight – Sir Alexander

The House of Kent is a well respected (& wealthy) friend of Robin Hood, having fought aside him in the crusades. The house has been blessed with many, many daughters who have unfortunately not been interested in marriage. BUT Lord Oliver is in search of a duchess… at least according to his aunt, Lady Marigold of Kent. The dukedom must survive!

Knight – Sir Edward

Waterdown House is a strong dukedom, known for their knights of great nobility, chivalry and loyalty. The land is filled with rivers and lakes – great for fishing. The knight of Waterdown always comes prepared with Blue Roses for the ladies of the court.

Knight – Sir Lester
or Sir George

Sussex is home of the bravest knights. Being on the coast, they are a port city known for trade and ship building. This is the house of Sir Lester who was sent to fight in the crusades with King Richard after winning the tournament one year, and of Sir George.

Knight – Sir Roger

Moorefield House is a barony known for their cattle and sheep. They have been known to switch sides rather easily… at least, for the right price. They are an untrustworthy house due to their mercenary-minded tendencies.

Knight – Sir Phillip

Lancaster House is located in Lancashire. The Duke of Lancaster is the cousin of King Richard and serves him as High Justice. Lancaster has a force rivalry with York House that will later lead to the War of Roses. This rivalry spawns from the fact that either has a claim to the throne and both want it. The war is eventually settled with York on the throne with a queen from Lancaster (their crests forming the Tutor Rose).

Knight – Lady Annalise

York House is located in Yorkshire, this is the largest dukedom, meaning they have lots of room for fields and a thriving agricultural sector. The Duke of York is the cousin of King Richard. They are famous for their Yorkshire pudding and thriving apple orchard – which may or may not contain some unwanted former-husbands of the Lady of York. York has a fierce rivalry with Lancaster House that will later lead to the War of Roses. This rivalry spawns from the fact that either has a claim to the throne and both want it. The war is eventually settled with York on the throne with a queen from Lancaster (their crests forming the Tutor Rose).

Count Henri de Gibson
Countess Ellen do Gibson
Daughter – Lady Lize de Gisbon
Knight Champion – Sir Guy

The House of Gisbon (Le Maison de Gisbon) is the wealthiest house but they love contests, planning & conniving rather than actually spending this money. They are from France and they have a strange habit of always ending up on the winning team even if they did not start there. The House of Gisbon believes in giving credit where credit is due – which always happens to be them. Some might (incorrectly!) say they steal credit.
